Most Global Mobility functions are still measured by what they process, not what they produce. Relocations completed, tickets closed, filings on time — all useful, none of it strategic. From Operational to Strategic Global Mobility argues the function has quietly become one of the most valuable levers in the business, and lays out what it actually takes to build one that gets treated that way. Grounded in longitudinal research and two decades of consulting practice.

About Benjamin

Benjamin Bader is Professor of International Human Resources Management at Newcastle University Business School, UK, and co-founder of MasteringGM®, a boutique consultancy in the Global Mobility space. He splits his time between academic research and hands-on consulting work with organizations building out their Global Mobility function.

He received a PhD with highest distinction from the University of Hamburg, Germany. His research interests include expatriate management and global mobility, international leadership, and diversity management. A special emphasis of his research is on people management in dynamic environments as well as the Future of Work. He has published several refereed journal articles as well as an edited volume on expatriate management. His articles appear in top tier journals such as Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of International Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, among others.

In his workshops, Benjamin leans on creative facilitation rather than slide decks and lecture format. He is a certified Advanced LEGO® Serious Play® facilitator, and uses it, alongside other hands-on methods, to get teams actually building and arguing through their own strategy rather than sitting through someone else's.

"Taking time out of a busy schedule is so important and the Workshop was the right place to set personal goals for this year. My favourite activity was using PlaymobilPro and I strongly recommend trying this method if you haven’t done yet. Thank you for this wonderful event. I am very much looking forward to the next Workshop."
